991.com returns to the glam rock era

991.com the world's leading provider of rare & music memorabilia announced today that they have acquired one of Marc Bolan’s flamboyant tops from the 1970’s. Mike Cambridge, the senior buyer for 991.com was delighted with the acquisition. “Marc Bolan embodied the glam rock era and was one of the brightest & most recognizable stars in music during the 1970s . He was famous for some of the catchiest and most memorable singles of the decade with a legendary stage presence, glamourous outfits and flamboyant style, always a trendsetter - never a follower.
This black wraparound light shirt featuring gold, silver & bronze metallic pinstripes with two tiered flared sleeves is the perfect example of the glam fashion Bolan pioneered , custom made for Marc by 'Alkasura in London' the only serious place the glitterati of the glam world would consider shopping back in the day.
Worn onstage this authentic piece of celebrity owned memorabillia is of museum quality standard which was acquired by John & Shan Bramley who managed the Official Marc Bolan Fan Club. This comes complete with a letter of provenance from it’s most recent owner. 991.com

Marc's Flying V guitar at Christies

The Christies' Pop Memorabilia auction is always worth a close inspection and the first details of the forthcoming April sale are now available - including this guitar once owned by Marc Bolan.

The guitar is a 1970 Gibson Flying V electric guitar, used extensively by Marc Bolan in the 1970s, most notably on Top Of The Pops in 1972, performing his Get It On single. If you want it, you'll have to bid between £30,000 - £50,000. And from a similar era, you can pick up one of the Ziggy Stardust costumes from 1973 (estimate £4,000 - £6,000).

Check out the Christies' website for the full listings. The auction takes place on Thursday 26th April at the South Kensington auction rooms.
